My In Touch Career So Far - Bav Parmar
Bav Parmar has been part of the In Touch team since June 2017. He began his career as a Membership Manager selling our various membership packages and products. Due to his outstanding work, Bav was promoted to Assistant Team Leader. After developing his management skills, Bav was promoted to Floor Manager and was responsible for assisting the Sales Director with running the entire sales floor. Now, you will find Bav on the Development team analyzing data and trends to help the business grow. We caught up with Bav to find out why he loves working at In Touch.
I received the best training I have ever had
"I had one of the best training sessions I think I’ve ever had in a sales role. I recieved two days of intense training and then I was on the phones on the third day. I made a sale within my first three calls so I was pretty happy as the training paid off. Its hard work, but you can make a success of it if you put in 110%. The most encouraging part of the role is the competition on the sales floor, it's an atmosphere where you want to compete and try and be the best. Management encourages you to not compare yourself to the people that are high performing, but to aspire to beat them or be like them."
The business recognises my key skills and abilities
"In Touch is fast-paced, it moves in different directions all the time, but the senior team has always looked at my assets, key skill sets and where I could perform best. My role in Development is fairly new, but In Touch has encouraged me to learn on the job. I also get to use the talents I have shown in previous roles in a different way as well as adding more skills to my repertoire."
Transitioning from Sales to Development was made easy
"Being on the sales side of the business for most of my In Touch career, I’ve understood the business in terms of transactions. As our company is tech-based it’s good to be able to understand it from a different point of view. Being on the dev team has given me insight into what goes on from the back end of the business, which involves working closely with marketing to understand the content behind the leads that are generated. I feel like the more I understand about the business, the more I can help the company to grow and also help myself progress in my career.”
Every day is different
"My job is not the same day in day out. You are never really pigeonholed, you are always challenged and pushed to achieve more. I don’t hesitate to get up in the morning to go to work. It’s a challenge, it’s exciting, it’s always like an adventure where you don’t really know what’s going to happen."
What advice would you give to a new starter?
"Hard work delivers, you have to be resilient and the rewards are plentiful for the people that give 110%."
