Relate North and South West Sussex

Relate is the largest provider of relationship support in the UK. Relate North & South West Sussex is an independent charity and a member of the Relate Federation. We offer counselling to couples, individuals, families and young people in Crawley, Horsham, East Grinstead, Chichester and surrounding areas.

What we are looking for

As a Trustee of Relate North & South West Sussex you will be helping to promote and develop our Centre to increase its efficiency, effectiveness and relevance to society. You will make sure that Relate and its representative’s act within the legal and regulatory framework of the sector and in line with the organisation's governing documents and accepted best practice.

We are looking for dynamic people who can think strategically and laterally and complement the existing Board of Trustees. You would be working with other trustees who have a range of skills, knowledge and experience, but who are all committed to the work of Relate.

Expected time commitment

You will work hours convenient to yourself from your own home, but will be expected to come into the office on occasions.

Trustee Board meetings are held six times a year in Crawley, in the evening. There may be sub-committee meetings that will draw on the specific skills you have to offer. We also hold an annual Team Day for staff, Trustees and counsellors, which takes place on a Saturday. A monthly commitment of four to five hours will be sufficient to carry out your role.

What’s in it for you?

A sense of satisfaction and fulfilment, knowing that you are volunteering at a highly regarded local charity that supports people through some of the most difficult times in their lives. An opportunity to use your skills and collaborate with others to realise our vision that healthy relationships are at the heart of a thriving community.
